Halloween, or All Hallows’ Evening, dates back to 1745 and is of Christian origin. It's marks the start of the three-day observance of Allhallowtide, a time for remembering the dead, including saints, and martyrs. It's evolved into an evening of pranks, parties, sweets and dressing up as ghouls. This year it falls on a Monday so expect all the trick or treating and parties to be on the weekend.
